On Saturday, 4 August, it is time for the EuroPride Parade, which starts at the City Hall on Kungsholmen and proceeds to Östermalms IP and EuroPride Park – a colorful and important manifestation of love, tolerance, music and song. There will also be announcers, roasting the passing parade from on high at Tegelbacken and on Stureplan.

The parade announcers at Tegelbacken are Josefin Johansson and Petrina Solange. Josefin Johansson is the comedienne, tv-show host and artist whom we loved in the Swedish tv-shows På spåret, Smartare än en femteklassare and Allsång på Skansen. In 2017 she was awarded Female Comedian of the Year at the Swedish Stand-Up Gala. Petrina Solange is the award-winning stand-up comedian who can be seen on stages all around Sweden, and heard in Swedens funniest underground podcasts.

The parade announcers at Stureplan are Robert Fux and Tasso Stafilidis. Robert Fux is the actor and drag artist who can be seen this autumn at Stockholms Stadsteater as the anti-war heroine Marta Althaus in the monologue “Ner med vapnen!”. He has been a parade announcer since 2006. Tasso Stafilidis is President of West Pride, head of the culture event Göteborgs kulturkalas and an actor who is also a former member of the Swedish parliament, where he co-founded an LGBT group. Tasso is also a veteran parade announcer who has been doing this for twelve years in a row.

It is an honor to present the parade for the 12th time and it is always very exciting. Together with my parade announcer colleague I am convinced that we will capture the audience with interesting information mixed with gossip and excitement, says Tasso Stafilidis.

He also wants to give the participants of the parade a reminder:

Don’t forget to send in the names of the famous people you want announced. Even after 12 years, memory can fail me. Besides, it is rather difficult to see through umbrellas, or see who is hiding behind a mask.

EuroPride Parade Stockholm is entirely organized by volunteers. If you work as a volunteer, you prepare for the parade, participate in the parade itself, manage the audience, and make sure the parade route is free of obstacles and spectators. And you’ll see the whole parade too – from first  row! As a volunteer, you only work during Saturday, 4 August, and receive a ticket to EuroPride Park on Saturday.
