Markus Krungegård will perform the song ”Over The Rainbow”, toghether with Stockholm Gay Choir,  during the opening cermony in EuroPride Park Stockholm. The Rainbow Song has, for Stockholm Pride, especially written lyrics in Swedish by Calle Norén. It was performed for the first time during Stockholm Pride 2000, then by Lisa Nilsson.

The song is presented in collaboration with Posithiva Gruppen and performed  after the silent minute to honour of those who are no longer with us. The song is performed annually and has in the past also been sung by a number of other Swedish artists, such as Eva Dahlgren, Ola Salo, Birgitta Svendén, Jan Malmsjö, Peter Jöback, Andreas Lundstedt and Gunilla Backman.

– I am honored and proud to have been invited to perform ”Ovan regnbågen” together with Stockholm Gay Choir during EuroPride Stockholm. Although the song reminds us of those heroes within the LGBTQ-community that are no longer with us, it is also a call to all of us to always stand up for everybodys egual rights here, says Markus Krunegård.

– EuroPride is not just celebration and joy, we want to mix the fun with the serious, debates and talks, which is unique for our festival. The Rainbow Song has always been an important part of the festival, and a way for us to remember and pay tribute to the heroes and fighters that are no longer with us, says Ted Balkert, Festival Manager at Stockholm Pride.
